The business case for sustainability standards

ISEAL Alliance has done the research, crunched the numbers and identified a number of short-term and long-term benefits of adopting sustainability standards. According to the research, companies are enjoying the 'traditional' benefits related to reputation, efficiency and profitability. Interestingly, many companies are also reaping 'non-traditional' benefits, such as medium-term and long-term boosts to market access, supply chain risk management, stakeholder engagement and contributions to industry-wide change. Importantly, the research concludes that the business case for standards is influenced by context-specific factors such as the characteristics of the company, sector and standards system. The research report is available here.
