In spite of improved reporting and commitment to improved labour supply chain conditions, companies in the leather industry need to do more to address forced labour risks. This is according to a study by Know the Chainwhich analyzed policies and practices of brands attempting to address forced labour across supply chains in the leather industry. The study advises companies sourcing in high risk countries to ensure anti-forced labour initiatives reach beyond first tier suppliers. Joining forces with multi-stakeholder initiatives helps companies to understand and reach all levels of complex supply chains.
