Kenya

In recent years, the Government of Kenya revised and re-introduced the regulation of private recruitment agencies. As a result, all previously operating recruitment agencies had to re-apply for their license through a more robust process. This also encouraged them to engage with IRIS, which in Kenya has been implemented through a joint IOM-Verité project.

Throughout 2019-2020, more than 70 Kenyan labour recruiters have participated in IRIS training, aimed at improving their understanding of what ethical recruitment entails and how to align their operations with IRIS requirements. This work is conducted with individual support provided remotely by IOM staff in Kenya and from the IRIS Secretariat in Geneva.
